Here he is. One healthy full-o-beans toddler.
He has been super well for a while now, but we got the big tick from Starship last week, and boy does it feel good. He had an echo, an ECG, had x rays and his oxygen levels checked. Then the doctors met and shepherded us into a tiny windowless room. I tried in vain to read their faces before they spoke.
But there was nothing to fear this time around. His heart is all tickety boo. They have no concerns until Albie grows out of his transplanted valve and artery, and so with everything as stable as it is they don’t want to see us again for……..ONE YEAR. We’ve got some brain scans to go through in February with Neurology, but from a Cardiac perspective there’s nothing to worry about. An incredible feeling.
All perfectly timed with a summer away. We are currently at the beach – getting sandfly bites and occasional patches of sunburn, , teaching Albie about the ocean, sitting outside late into the night. I was bridesmaid for one of my dearest friends yesterday. The sun shone so bright. It was the most beautiful day. Oh – and we saw a pod of orcas – just off shore from where we stood on the grass for the wedding rehearsal. What an omen that must be!
